My name is Lisa Avila, and I am a wife of 21 years, a mother of three, and part of a proud military family. Throughout our many moves and seasons of life, God has continually placed people in my path who share a heart for justice and a passion to help end human trafficking.
For much of my life, I felt a calling to serve Africa, even when I didn’t fully understand why. That calling became clear when I was asked to be part of Beyond Beauty for Survivors. Serving on the board of this nonprofit has brought purpose and clarity to that long-held calling, allowing me to be part of meaningful work that restores hope and dignity to survivors. I have seen how God woven purpose into every chapter of my life and uses my experience for His greater plan.
I wholeheartedly believe in the mission of empowering women and children in Africa to discover their God-given worth, strength, walk in healing, and step into a future filled with hope. Serving with Beyond Beauty for Survivors is not just an opportunity—it is a calling to serve, uplift, and help create lasting change that I am grateful to walk in as I follow God’s leading and serve His people.

Val currently has accepted a call back into ministry to serve as RiverGlen RG Kids Lead in Pewaukee! Val has had a passion for kids for many years. She has worked as a para-educator, a special-needs educator, a child-care provider, and for six years as a preschool teacher in New Berlin. But in addition to all that, Val helped build, launch, and lead a Children’s Ministry at one of the campuses for a mega church in California. She has a heart to see kids connect with faith, and a burden for mercy and justice. She has a passion for international missions and has been doing missions since 2008. Vals loves supporting different organizations that deal with orphaned and rescued children, post abortion ministries, sex trafficking and rescued horses. She is a wife to an incredible man, mother to two beautiful children, originally from Peru, loves ceviche, dark chocolate with salt and will say to skydiving at any time. One of her most cherished moments in her walk with God was when she went to Uganda in 2008, since then her life has been changed and with God's grace. She is looking forward to walking along side this incredible organization!

Milwaukee. He became involved with the team Beyond Beauty For Survivors after connecting
with the CEO Kelsey Hill during a church small-group gathering, where they discovered a
shared passion for children and communities in Uganda.
This shared passion for helping children in developing countries had brought Troy to mission
work in St. Lucia in the West Indies and South Africa in the past. During these mission trips, he
worked closely with local schools to teach children, supported community outreach initiatives,
and assisted families facing significant hardship. Additionally, he has volunteered and served on
the Board of Directors for numerous community outreach organizations focusing on helping
children in the local communities and working with local populations struggling with
homelessness and hunger. After returning to his hometown of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he sought
out meaningful outreach opportunities with organizations that prioritize direct impact—ensuring
donations go straight to those in need. Beyond Beauty for Survivors aligned closely with these
values, leading Troy to join the organization on a mission trip where he witnessed firsthand the
needs of the community and the organization’s vital work in providing support.
Troy is a husband and the father of one son, a role that further deepens his compassion for
orphaned and vulnerable children. In addition to his work with Beyond Beauty for Survivors, he
is actively engaged in volunteering within his local community and remains dedicated to service
both at home and abroad.
